How to stop blood when cut: effective ways

In domestic conditions, cuts are quite common. There is not a single person who would not cut his hand. A cut is damage to the skin that leads to bleeding. Sometimes the bleeding is so strong that it can only be stopped by special means and special methods.

How to stop blood when cut

During the cut, the integrity of the blood vessels is damaged, which is why the blood flows. After some time, the blood begins to coagulate and a wound forms in place. However, we need to accelerate this process before a person loses a lot of blood. In addition, we need to protect an open wound from infection in it.

Most often, cuts occur on the fingers, where there is an accumulation of blood vessels. That is why a cut on the finger bleeds so much. If you cut yourself, you need to quickly determine the approximate depth of the wound. After all, the principles of stopping bleeding in deep and superficial cuts are slightly different.

How to stop blood with a superficial cut

  1. With a small cut, rinse the wound with a stream of cold water. This will not only clean the cut from contamination (relevant when cut with a dirty knife, broken glass), but also slightly narrow the blood vessels.
  2. If blood continues to flow after cold water, you need to squeeze the wound with a clean cotton swab or bandage. Squeezing for several minutes will help stop the blood flow.
  3. Then treat the edges of the wound with a bactericidal agent and stick a patch on the wound or bandage it.

How to stop blood with a deep cut

How to stop blood with a deep cut

  1. With a deep cut, it is necessary to act swiftly, because a person can lose a lot of blood. For first aid, a bandage, a piece of clean cloth, an antiseptic, and water are needed.
  2. It is necessary to raise a hand with a cut so that the wound is higher than the level of the heart. This will reduce the intensity of bleeding.
  3. First you need to wash the wound with a cloth dampened in water. Do not substitute a deep cut under a stream of water, because bleeding can intensify.
  4. If there are foreign objects in the wound, you need to remove them. If this does not work out, you need to bandage the cut and go to a medical facility.
  5. Before bandaging the wound, you need to treat it with an antiseptic to avoid infection. You can simply pour hydrogen peroxide into the wound and moisten the tissue that you will apply to the wound in the peroxide.
  6. With a deep cut, try to bring the edges of the wound as close as possible to each other and lay the fabric on top, and then tightly bandage the cut. If blood comes out, apply another layer of gauze dressing.
  7. With severe chipped, stitching and cutting cuts, it is best to consult a doctor immediately after providing a person with first aid.

It is impossible! If glass fragments remain in the cut, you should not expand the wound and try to get a foreign object. A tourniquet 10 cm above the wound must be placed on the arm or leg to stop bleeding, cover the wound with a clean cloth and immediately go to the hospital.

Antiseptics for cut disinfection

Before bandaging the wound, you need to disinfect its edges. Because ingestion of germs, bacteria and infections can lead to serious problems. You can disinfect a wound with several bactericidal agents that are in every home.

Antiseptics for cut disinfection

  1. Hydrogen peroxide. This is a universal tool that should be in every home. Hydrogen peroxide, in addition to its powerful antibacterial agent, does not pinch and does not cause pain when treating a wound.
  2. Iodine and its derivatives - Iodoform, Iodonate, Betadine, Iodonol, Yox.
  3. Zelenka (brilliant green solution). Now in the pharmacy you can buy zelenka not only in its traditional form, but in the form of powder and pencil, which greatly facilitates the treatment of wounds.
  4. Potassium permanganate. A strong solution of potassium permanganate is used to wash cuts, burns, abrasions.
  5. Furatsilin. These yellow tablets are in every home and when cut, their solution can disinfect the wound no worse than peroxide.
  6. Alcohol or vodka. In camping conditions, when there are no medications at hand, you can disinfect the cut with alcohol or vodka. However, be prepared to burn.
  7. Vishnevsky ointment. It is used to treat purulent formations and cuts, has a pronounced antiseptic property.

Be careful! If you yourself have treated the wound and stopped the blood, you should observe the cut for several days. If after a few days the edges of the wound became red, swollen and painful, then infection did occur. Stronger antiseptics should be used, but it is better to consult a doctor. The same should be done if, after a cut, you have found a violation of finger movements. You could damage the tendons, which led to such consequences.

Thanks. My hands are crooked - forever I’ll cut myself, or something else ... Actually, in general, I saved it in bookmarks.
